Owl Nesting Box Care Instructions

Wood is a natural product that expands and contracts due to the humidity and temperature of its environment. Because of this natural expansion and contraction movement in solid wood products and furniture, cracks may naturally appear as the wood ages with time, which is normal. To prolong the life of your owl box apply a product like Timber Life, Woodoc, or Nova once a year.

Owl Box Cleaning Instructions

• An annual re-varnish is required to keep the box weatherproof
• Replace the nesting material, pea gravel is a great option as it allows the owls to create a ‘cup’ in which to lay their eggs.
• Check for signs of wear and tear
• Monitor occupancy – other birds and animals may move into the box out of breeding season, they bring in sticks, paper and rubbish that needs to be removed before owls will nest in the box

Warranty

Our timber is CCA treated to SABS specification which protects the product against rot and insect attack. It has also been sealed with a high quality wood sealant. Our products have a 6-month limited warranty. Please read our full warranty terms and conditions.
