Because of this natural expansion and contraction movement in solid wood products and furniture, cracks may naturally appear as the wood ages with time, which is normal. To prolong the life of your owl box apply a product like Timber Life, Woodoc, or Nova once a year.

Bird Nest Box Cleaning Instructions

• An annual re-varnish is required to keep the box weatherproof
• Replace the nesting material
• Check for signs of wear and tear
• Monitor occupancy – other birds and animals may move into the box out of breeding season, they bring in sticks, paper and rubbish that needs to be removed before birds will nest in the box
